What a Didpop order actually costs
Four charges can show up on a Didpop order: the item price, a service fee that depends on the source platform, a cross-border card fee, and international shipping, paid later. Here is what each one is, sourced from Didpop's own help centre, checked 2026-10-22.
How the currency conversion works
Didpop settles in USD regardless of what currency the original listing is priced in. The help centre states the rate used is the bank's own live rate, adjusted in real time rather than a rate Didpop sets itself: "according to the latest exchange rate announced by the bank, we will make real-time adjustments from time to time according to changes in the bank's exchange rate." That means the USD figure you see at checkout can move between the time you browse a listing and the time you pay.

What actually gets charged
Didpop publishes a service-fee table by source platform. The big general marketplaces, Taobao and Tmall, carry no service fee, and neither do 1688, JD.com, or Amazon; the same zero-fee treatment extends to Weidian, Vipshop, Yihaodian, Dangdang, and Yuppo. Xianyu, Paipai, and Zhuanzhuan carry a flat CNY 20 per deal order. Any other or unverifiable source carries 10% of the order value, and that fee is not refunded if you cancel a paid-but-not-yet-shipped order from one of those platforms.
On top of the item price and any service fee, a cross-border handling charge applies to the card payment itself: 5% of the actual payment amount plus a flat $0.30, baked into the total you are charged rather than itemised separately. Didpop's own worked example: a CNY 500 item at a rate of 1 : 6.5705 comes to a payable amount of USD 76.10, and the actual card charge comes to USD 78.68 once the handling fee is added. Run your own numbers on the cost calculator.
Didpop's help centre confirms you can top up and pay even if you only hold foreign (non-CNY) currency, since the card or PayPal payment is converted at checkout rather than requiring a CNY balance first. A separate help article addresses the common follow-up question, money not showing in your account balance immediately after a top-up, usually a processing delay rather than a lost payment. If an order routes through the third-party agent layer mentioned on the Didpop page, the fee standard that applies can differ from the direct tiers above; check the amount shown at checkout against this page rather than assuming it always matches.
Storage fees
Storage costs nothing for the first 90 days, counted from the date an item gets marked stored. After that, Didpop charges CN¥0.1 per item per day. The full window before an unclaimed item is treated as abandoned is 180 days, with a reminder sent around day 150. Parcels that are signed in but never matched to a submitted order get a shorter 60-day window with no reminder. See the storage calculator to work out your own dates from a warehouse-in date.
